PROUD GRANDPA
I am excited to be teaching math and world history at Waterloo High School. This is my twenty-first year at WHS. I have also taught in Missouri. Prior to my teaching career I served as pastor of a small rural church in Renault. I have also served as associate pastor in several settings, with responsibilities in music, youth, Christian education, and day care director.
My education includes bachelor degrees from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, as well as a Master's from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Deerfield, Illinois. I graduated from high school in Robinson, Illinois.
I am happily married to a retired high school teacher, Sandy Livengood. We have one son, Jonathan, who was co-valedictorian of the 1998 Waterloo High School graduating class. He has earned his doctorate in the History and Philosophy of Science from the University of Pittsburgh, and is now a tenured professor of philosophy at the University of Illinois (my alma mater). His wife, Kerrith, also has earned her doctorate from Pitt, in Music Composition, and is teaching a class at the U of I. She gave birth to our grandson, Talan Faraday Livengood, October 14, 2011. Talan is in the first grade this year.
Among my interests are playing basketball, reading, gardening, collecting cookie cutters (and eating cookies), and music. I sing and play trombone at church. I have more than 6000 books in my personal library. My wife and I like to go together to garage sales. I LOVE TO TEACH!
